Adarna Bird or the ‘Ibong Adarna’ in Filipino, is a mythical creature from the folklore ‘Ang alamat ng Ibong Adarna’. In a nutshell, the story tells of the three princes who set out each on their own in search for the Adarna believing that its voice can cure their dying father, the king. And yes that special bird can sing. The princes have to weather torrential journey through the woods and whatnots. The problem is that none of them is aware of the bird’s ability to put anyone who listens to its singing to sleep and turn them into stone with its poo. Only the hermit in the forest knows. When the two elder princes encounters the hermit in his filthy rugged clothes, they brush him off. They miss the chance to know of the danger seeking Adarna. So both ended up rock solid literally. But the youngest who’s disliked by his brothers, is that typical protagonist who’s nice and kind. So he accommodates the hermit, gives him the food he has left for the journey. In return, the hermit finally reveals the secret of Adarna and gives him instructions and some special tools to capture it. Finally, the youngest brother successfully captures the Adarna and turns his brothers back to normal with a potion from the hermit. The king recovers upon hearing the Adarna sing and everyone’s happy.

I’m not much of a story teller but I hope you get the idea.

I exaggerated the size of the Adarna. It ought to be small and easily put in a cage.
