Replace Kubrick?

21 Mar 2008 12:00 am

The Kubrick theme is being proposed to be dethroned from being Wordpress’ default theme. That good ole theme, to me, has become more than just a default theme. It has become a symbol that when you see it you see Wordpress. Sure time goes by and many things have changed in Wordpress, but I kinda don’t see the need for replacement. If we’re talking about reflecting the recent progress and making things more exciting, focusing on improving the admin panel sounds better. After all, the default theme isn’t necessarily what users would keep as the main theme. More often than not, users would be at the Themes page right away after they’ve successfully created a blog searching for other themes. And that’s not because the Kubrick theme’s not exciting, just that they know they want something more than just the default. Simply put, nobody really wants to use the default theme. If someone does, likely is that it’s not for the excitement.

  1. First time i see the Kubrick theme, its very humble. Then, i see many blogs modified it and then being look like professional theme. I want to use it for my next blog.

  2. Kubrick is pretty simple enough to use and modify that makes it all the more appealing as a default theme. :)
